Climate Action Plan to Get Public Review Aug. 31

The city of Walnut Creek has scheduled a community workshop to get public input on the newly drafted Climate Action Plan for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, in the Oak View Room of the Walnut Creek Library, 1644 North Broadway.

The CAP, in sync with state regulations to address climate change, describes the city's strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions

WALNUT CREEK _ The City of Walnut Creek will hold a community workshop 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 to gather public input on the City’s newly-drafted Climate Action Plan (CAP). 

The workshop will be in the Oak View Room of the Walnut Creek Library, the Walnut 1644 N. Broadway.

The draft Climate Action Plan outlines the City’s overall strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) in response to state regulations to address climate change.

The City is looking to the community for help with shaping and prioritizing these important policies. Workshop participants will learn about the components of the CAP and will have an opportunity to provide the City with feedback on the proposed strategies for addressing climate change, air quality, energy efficiency, community health and other components of sustainability.

The CAP, once completed, will serve as a blueprint for the City’s future sustainability efforts and contain policies that are designed to help the City meet state legal requirements for GHG reductions.

The goals and measures outlined in the Climate Action Plan are intended to support a healthy and sustainable future for Walnut Creek.
