Meeting tonight to review 10-year Capital Investment Program.
The Walnut Creek City Council is due to review the city's 10-year Capital Investment Program when it meets this evening.
The council's agenda has a closed session meeting at 5:30 p.m. today, followed by the regular public meeting at 7 p.m. on the first floor of City Hall, 1666 N. Main St.
The closed session has three matters on the agenda:
- conference regarding contract negotiations with the Police Officers Unit and the Police Management Association.
- discussion of a lawsuit, Bravos v. City of Walnut Creek in Contra Costa County Superior Court.
- a conference with a real property negotiator pursuant to the possible sale of 1500 Mount Diablo Blvd.
The agenda items in the Capital Investment Program include:
- Use of $2 million in Measure WW funds for all-weather sports fields, with remaining project costs to come from donations and grants.
- Pool improvements — $585,000 of Measure WW funds for Larkey Pool improvements, and unspecified amounts for a series of new pools at Heather Farm Park.
- Use the In-lieu Parkland Dedication Fund for playground equipments — $500,000 to bring playground equipment up to safety and Americans with Disabilities Act standards, and $350,000 to build an all-abilities playground at some location.
- Develop a more detailed plan for speed display signs on Ygnacio Valley Road and traffic improvements to accommodate a planned development at Civic Drive and Ygnacio Valley Road.
The council will also review a pre-application for a general plan amendment to raise the building height limit for a proposed development in three adjoining parcels at 1500 and 1540 North California Blvd., including the Scotts Valley Bank site.
Laconia Development, LLC, of Walnut Creek is pitching a 5-story development with 150 apartments and 20,000 square feet of ground-level retail and office units. There would be underground parking.
