Creek Safety Meeting Tonight at Library

Community meeting looks at safety improvements recommended by engineer for urban streams.

A community meeting on the county's creek safety program is scheduled for 6:30 tonight (Tuesday) in the Oak View Room of the Walnut Creek Library, 1644 North Broadway.

The city of Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County are looking for public input on safety enhancements for urban creeks.

The meeting will include a presentation from a consulting engineer on an evaluation of recommended safety enhancements for the Walnut Creek Channel and Bancroft Drop Structure, according to a press release by the Creek Safety Program of the Contra Costa County Flood Control & Water Conservation District.

The county effort has produce improved signage, safety brochures, community outreach and swiftwater rescue coordination, the flood control agency reported.
The county's effort began shortly after February 2011, swept them through a tunnel and into the San Ramon Creek bypass.
