Environmental Report on BART Transit Project

Comment period runs through Aug. 31 on potential $100 million package for Walnut Creek BART Transit Village.

A draft Environmental Impact Report on a huge commercial-residential project at the heart of Walnut Creek — and the heart of Contra Costa County — is available on the city of Walnut Creek's website.

The public can comment on the Walnut Creek BART transit village report until Aug. 31.

The project, estimated at $100 million with 596 apartments and 22,000 square feet of commercial space, is envisioned by Walnut Creek Transit Lifestyle Associates, an affiliate of apartment developer BRE Properties, according to a piece in the Contra Costa Times.

The huge project on a 16-acre lot around the Walnut Creek BART station was on hold for a couple years as the recession limited financing options.
