YES HE CAN National Day of Action will be in San Ramon on Thursday 11AM to noon (longer weather permitting) January 19, 2012 at 3100 Crow Canyon Place. Four big banks are in the shopping center at the I680 Crow Canyon Rd East exit. Park between Wells Fargo & Citibank.

MoveOn Groups from the TriValley as well as Central Costa County are targeting banks that are “Too big to fail” with bankers who are “Too rich to jail”. The banks will be satirized as the piggies at a taped off crime scene.

The purpose of these actions is to pressure President Obama to investigate, indict, convict and imprison the Wall Street Mafioso that planned and executed the biggest heist in human history. Films, books and articles all outline how the inside job was executed, but it seems those too big to fail are also too rich to jail. The crime is of enormous magnitude and will continue unabated until we jail Wall St. kingpins who made billions of dollars at the expense of millions of American. Fining corporations is not the answer since they just write off the fine as a business expense and business continues as usual. Jail time for Wall Street Mafioso will change how business is done. President Obama is asked to please investigate the crimes, bring the perpetrators to justice and make it impossible for others to take their places and repeat those criminal acts.

The biggest banks engaged in criminal acts:

  • sold mortgages to the unsuspecting unqualified,
  • bundled these high risk mortgages with OK mortgages from the qualified,
  • had the bundle rated as AAA even though they were risk infested,
  • insured them with AIG, Fannie & Freddie
  • bet on them defaulting
  • sold the bundles to some other banks
  • got the Federal Government (our taxes) to cover the losses at AIG, Freddie & Fannie
  • then the new owner banks foreclose & do not negotiate with the borrowers.
  • RESULTING IN
    • Falsified mortgage applications
    • Sold mortgages to those who could not afford them
    • Lied about the mortgages risks
    • Insured for mortgage bundles for values much higher than true worth
    • Forced the insurance companies into default requiring a taxpayer bailout
    • Took out insurance on bundles that would certainly default
    • Bet against bundles they did not own
    • Banks set up to take advantage of the scam
    • Banks in other states making it difficult if not impossible for borrowers to negotiate new loans
    • Theft of taxpayer funds
    • The insurance guarantees the banks will get the money owed on the mortgage if they foreclose (by the federal tax dollars backing up the insurers).
    • While the banks promised to re-negotiate loans, they drag their feet until borrowers give up in frustration.
    • The new owner banks bought the high default risk mortgages at wholesale rates and are now making profits by foreclosing.
    • The bank bailout is the insurance guarantee for the new owner banks that they will be made whole.
    • 4,000,000 homes foreclosed on in the last 5 years
      • 7 million are facing foreclosure
      • Millions have already left their homes and are living in cars
      • Lives destroyed and families broken
    • Unemployment at record levels
    • Unfunded and under funded government services due to lack of revenue
      • States cannot afford schools, healthcare and basic services that are essential
    • Economic crisis in the US & Europe
    • $156 billion in Wall Street bonuses (Chase, BofA, Wells Fargo & Citibank) for 2011

This action is taken because the criminals that head the banks and perpetrate these crimes must be stopped.
Grassroots groups and individuals from all over Contra Costa and the TriValley, who cannot stand by while our country is decimated by greedy corporate interests, are encouraged to join in. Bring signs and energy.”

Karen Beck, TriValley MoveOn Organizer explained, “Protesters are angry at corporate greed, money in politics, corporate welfare, they believe can make a difference. We are changing the conversation from Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, to Stop the Cuts, to Tax the Rich and now to Jail the Wall St. criminals. It has been three years since the crimes were first perpetrated without an investigation or an indictment. That is why our signs say

  • Jail Wall St Mafia
  • Crime Scene
  • President Obama please investigate the banks
  • 4 Million Foreclosure
  • $156 Billion bonuses

Media Coordinator Ellis Goldberg added
“We are a part of actions throughout America working for: A change in values away from greed and unfairness.
A change in values toward empathy, responsibility and courage.
A change from the corporate controlled political machines to real democracy.
Empathy is the capacity to share feelings, joys and pains experienced by another.
Responsibility is not just for one’s self but for others, some not born yet, other species and ultimately the planet.
Courage is the ability to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.
If these are your values please join us in announcing it to the community. If you have been hurt by the economic repercussions of corporate corruption and greed, please join us and tell your story. The media wants to know about you."
