Update: April 16, added photo of Suzie Martinez
Walnut Creek's next city clerk is a familiar face around City Hall — Deputy City Clerk Suzie Martinez.
“In her deputy city clerk role, Suzie demonstrated strong customer service skills and a thorough knowledge of relevant technology that benefits both the community and the organization,” said City Manager Ken Nordhoff in a news release. “These experiences, coupled with her positive interpersonal skills and project management capability, allowed her to stand out in a field of candidates for this important position.”
Before coming to work for the city of Walnut Creek in 2008, Martinez worked for the town of St. Helena.
She replaces Patrice Olds, who left Walnut Creek in January to be city clerk in the city of San Mateo.
Martinez has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. In addition, she earned her Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
“I am confident that Suzie will continue to serve the City of Walnut Creek with the enthusiasm, professionalism and integrity expected from our City Clerk,” said Nordhoff.
