Occupy Walnut Creek Extends Wednesday Protests Into November

Starting on Oct. 26, the demonstrations against economic inequities will be on Ygnacio Valley Road near Walnut Creek BART.

Occupy Walnut Creek has plans to extend its protest franchise for Wednesday afternoons into November, and move to a different location — Ygnacio Valley Road near the Walnut Creek BART station.

"We think this will enhance our visibility," said Ken Richard of Occupy Walnut Creek in an email.

In the near term, there's a 4 p.m. Wednesday protest planned for Oct. 19 in the same location as last Wednesday's initial Walnut Creek demonstration over corporate greed and economic inequities — at Mount Diablo Boulevard and North Main Street.

This Wednesday, said Richard, the ranks will be swelled by some organized members of local unions. Richard said he made some connections with unionists in an Occupy protest in San Francisco Sunday.

Richard said he expected this Wednesday's crowd to be around 500 — , and other protesters on either side of Mount Diablo Boulevard a half-block away.

Richard said the Ygnacio Valley Road protests are planned for 4 p.m. until darkness on Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9.
