With high-wind warnings throughout the region on Wednesday and Thursday, keep these numbers handy.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high-wind warnings throughout the region on Wednesday and Thursday, with the strongest gusts expected in the hills above 1,000 feet.

The warning, which includes expected gusts up to 70 miles per hour, is in effect from Wednesday morning to 6 a.m. Thursday.

Considering the potential for local damage, it's a good time to have emergency contacts available.

  • Walnut Creek police can be reached at the business line, (925) 943-5844. Police can track down responders from Public Services. Of course, if it's an emergency (imminent threat to life or property) call 911 at any time.
  • For downed tree limbs, during business hours call the city Public Services Department at (925) 943-5854 and staff can contact tree crews to respond. During non-business hours, call the business line of the police department, (925) 943-5844. Again, if it's an emergency (imminent threat to life or property) call 911 at any time.
  • Power outages should be reported to (800) 743-5002. PG&E is available at (800) 743-5000 while water emergencies can be directed to EBMUD at (866) 403-2683.
