Radio Interview for Manufacturing President

Pamela Kan of Walnut Creek, president of Bishop-Wisecarver Corp. in Pittsburg, was recently named to the State Workforce Investment Board.

Tune into KCBS radio Friday morning to hear a Walnut Creek woman who runs a manufacturing company and was appointed this week to the State Workforce Investment Board.

Pamela Kan is the president of Bishop-Wisecarver Corp. in Pittsburg. She is scheduled to be interviewed on all-news KCBS, 740 on the AM dial, at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

“Workforce development is key to the success of our state,” stated Kan in a Bishop-Wisecarver news release. “It’s important that we close the skills gap so that the manufacturing of today and tomorrow has workers with relevant abilities.”

Gov. Jerry Brown announced the appointment of Kan, 47, a Republican, to the workforce board this week. In Walnut Creek, Kan serves on the board of the Seven Hills School.

As part of the state advisory board, Kan will influence public policy regarding economic development and job growth in California. She will help oversee the state’s 49 local Workforce Investment Boards that allocate funds received through the federal Workforce Investment Act at a regional level.
