Road Closure Around Treat Boulevard and Oak Road to Finish Pedestrian Bridge

The Iron Horse Pedestrian Bridge is close to completion, following some night work this weekend and intermittent work over the next few weeks.

Contra Costa County public works crews will shut down the intersection of Treat Boulevard and Jones Road at night again this weekend as they complete work on the new $6.8 million Iron Horse Trail pedestrian bridge.

Crews will close this intersection from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Treat Boulevard will be closed between Oak Road and Cherry Lane, and Jones Road will be closed from the BART station to just south of Treat Boulevard. Motorists should follow detour signs and those needing to enter or leave the Pleasant Hill BART station should use Oak Street.

Nick Panayotou, the engineer for the project, said this will be the final weekend for this type of road closure, though work will continue intermittently at night from July 26 to Aug. 13 with lane closures on an as-needed basis.

Construction on the $6.8 million bridge began in August. More than 1 million people per year use the Iron Horse Regional Trail, a 24-mile stretch from Dublin to Concord that runs along an old railroad right of way. The pedestrian bridge is scheduled for completion in August.
