Rotary Announces Tuesday Morning Debates
Walnut Creek Sunrise Rotary Club will host congressional, state Senate and Assembly debates in October at Scott's Seafood Bar & Grill.
The Sunrise Rotary Club of Walnut Creek is planning a series of debates for congressional and state candidates in the area.
The debates are scheduled for a series of Tuesday mornings at The debates are open to the public. A buffet breakfast for $15 starts at 7:00 a.m., with the debates starting between 7:20 and 7:30 and ending at 8:30 a.m.
The election is Nov. 6. The debates will be moderated with no audience participation, the Sunrise Rotary Club announced. Participants are asked to bring a can of food for donation to food banks.
The schedule is:
- Oct. 9 — Senate District 7; Mark DeSaulnier of Concord (Democratic incumbent) vs. Mark Meuser of Walnut Creek (Republican).
- Oct. 23 — Assembly District 16; Joan Buchanan of Danville (Democratic incumbent) vs. Al Phillips of Danville (Republican)
- Oct. 30 — Congress District 11; George Miller of Martinez (Democratic incumbent) vs. Virginia Fuller of Pinole (Republican)
