Walk Canal Trails With the Mayor Oct. 20

The usual second Saturday walk led by Mayor Bob Simmons is the third Saturday this month.

The usual second Saturday walk with the mayor is not tomorrow. It has been shifted to a third Saturday -- Oct. 20.

Mayor Bob Simmons leads the hike that day, a meander along the canals of Walnut Creek, starting at the Heather Farm Park Community Center, 201 N. Carlos Dr. at 8:30 a.m.

If you're a dedicated canal walker/ biker/ canine, you probably don't care whether you're in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill or Concord. Concord Patch has a piece seeking reader input about the canal trails.

Why doesn't that useless canidate start walking in some of downtown's garages ??????? Start with the multi floor stairways in the garage at olympic/main below the bookstore. And if he (bring the council with you ) can get past the heavy heavy urine smell, the floor/wall defecation, the empty liquor bottles and the pot smokers sitting on the steps,he can check out the other public garages in town GIVING HIM /THEM SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE TO DO. What a disgrace !!!!!!! I observed/smelled the above yesterday at approx: 3pm,6pm,6:15pm and 7;30PM.

Primo, the garage to which you refer is private commercial property. I doubt that any City Council member in the United States of America favors spending taxpayer money or using their personal time on weekends cleaning up private garages.

Primo: If you observe the sort of unlawful behavior you mention (smoking pot), it would be prudent to notify the police department. http://www.walnut-creek.org/citygov/depts/police/contactus.asp Non-emergency # for WCPD is (925) 935-6400. For emergency (or life threatening) matters, dial 911. I agree with Bob Brittain that the parking garage you cite is private property and not the responsibility of the City Council to maintain. I expect the city's code enforcement folks http://www.walnut-creek.org/citygov/depts/cd/nuisance_abatement_n_code_enforcement.asp to have some responsibility - especially when public health & safety issues (urine and feces) are in the path of the public - but they do need to be told of the problem, so please contact them.
