Walnut Creek BART Elevator Temporarily Closed Next Month

The elevators at the Walnut Creek BART Station will be temporarily closed as the station undergoes earthquake safety renovation, BART officials announced.

One elevator will work at all times, officials say, while the other will be shut down.

Here is a portion of the announcement from BART:

The first phase of the elevator closures will take place from Monday, July 8 through Thursday, July 18, 2013. During this time, the elevator at Platform 1 (servicing Pittsburg/Bay Point bound trains) will be out of order.

If you are arriving at the Walnut Creek Station and require the use of this closed elevator, please proceed to the next BART station at Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station and board a train to return back to the Walnut Creek Station to arrive on the opposite platform with a working elevator. In the event you need additional assistance due to a disability please see the Station Agent at the Walnut Creek Station. Provisional Paratransit services can be made available to accommodate persons with disabilities during these elevator closures for qualifying individuals.

After work around the Platform 1 elevator is complete, we will return it to full service and close the elevator at Platform 2 from Monday, July 22 through Thursday, August 1, 2013 (servicing all trains bound for San Francisco, Daly City and Millbrae).
