Walnut Creek Man Seeks Job With BART on Facebook

Jeff Berger thinks working for BART would be great.

Jeff Berger lives in Walnut Creek, and is presently between careers. The college educated man is a commercially rated flight instructor, and currently works for a company that installs power-efficient lighting.

But Berger has decided that he would love a job with BART. And to that end, he’s made a sign and stood outside the Walnut Creek BART station, and Wednesday’s negotiation session in Oakland. He’s also created a Facebook page.

"It's simple! BART unions are on strike while there are tons of unemployed or underemployed SF Bay Area professionals that would LOVE to earn a respectable wage with full benefits,” says Berger’s page. "BART.....release the unions and hire people like ME, Jeff Berger!”

“I think BART has great potential regarding wages,” Berger told Patch. “They make pretty good earnings, and great benefits. They also have a pension, which you don’t find that often these days.”

He said his wife commutes to the city, but has been "locked at home the last three days, because commuting is impossible.”

So, with all that time to think about it, Berger said campaigning for a job with BART  “would be a bold move, either as a train operator or customer service.”

So far, Berger said, BART has not responded.
