Children flock to Civic Park for demonstrations at the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Faire.

Children were sampling the wonders of fire engines, the Bomb-Bot and a K-9 unit Sunday at the first Community Safety and Crime Prevention Faire in the Civic Park parking lot.

"I love the Bomb Bot (robot for bomb-defusing situations)," said his dad, Kevin Lee.

It started with a child ID booth and "it grew bigger and bigger," said Williams.

K-9 Officer Joe Donleavy thrilled many kids with Kar, a German shepherd who was bred in the Czech Republic.

There were tables for the Community Emergency Response Team and Disaster Animal Response Team — or perhaps you know them as CERT and DART.

All activities were free.
