Beliefs, assumptions, thoughts thought; these are the stuff of Mind. Our brains are the workhorses that make all of the above happen, but all of the above does happen.
Our brain, neuronal pathways, neurotransmitters are all material. Beliefs, assumptions, thoughts thought are all non-material.
To understand the non-material information that is the stuff of Mind we must turn to information management sciences. By the way, Sigmund Freud, father of Psychoanalysis is considered to be the first theorist to look at Mind as an information management system.

Do non-material things in-form our material life? You bet. That has been well known since the emergence of quantum theory in the 1920’s. Einstein couldn’t work with that science but he named Neils Bohr, quantum theorist, as the physicist most likely to drive the future of physics.
Why the hyphenated in-form above? To underscore that quantum processes are imbedded in and giving rise to all forms. The universe that we know so well is ‘in formed’ by quantum processes. It is coming to be what it is coming to be as we speak, it is ‘in formation’.

And you? Quantum processes are imbedded in and giving rise to the form that is your physical and mental self. You are ‘in formed' by quantum processes. You are coming to be what you are coming to be as we speak. You are ‘in formation’.
To work with Mind we must take into account the quantum aspect of Mind, that is the Mind stuff itself; beliefs, assumptions and thoughts thought. It drives the process of you coming to be what you are coming to be now.
To do that well requires an understanding of quantum dynamics. Never fear, that is eminently doable.
