9th Annual Mary Shockley Memorial Awards for Outstanding Service by Seniors

Held on May 24 at the Walnut Creek Jewish Community Center from 9:30 a.m. until noon, the event was sponsored by the Central Costa County Senior Coalition.  Carole Brekke, its Chair introduced the MC, Judy Weiztzner, who presented the awards.  A capacity audience enjoyed a light breakfast.  After the award presentations, all were entertained by Beverley Bender, a humorist speaker and Gerontologist.  Her philosophy of "laughing for the health of it" kept the audience's attention , while learning the benefits of humor.

The event will air on CCTV on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. and Wednesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. and future dates to be announced.
