A Little Touch of Florali

There's a little fragrant island underneath the imposing freeway overpasses that soar through the heart of Walnut Creek.

The island is called Florali. The Boulevard Circle shop won this week's Readers Choice competition as the favorite florist in Walnut Creek. Second went to Countrywood Florist.

"We try to use seasonal, local flowers," said Darwin Harrison, who owns Florali with his mother, Susan Donley. "We work on getting plants grown in California and stuff not covered with pesticides." The shop, which has been on Boulevard Circle for a decade, specializes in unusual orchids, he added.
