Agreement Reportedly Reached On Northgate High Lights

Reports of a settlement between neighbors and Northgate High and its athletic boosters over the football stadium lights.

Neighbors of Northgate High reportedly have reached an agreement with the school and its athletic boosters over the new stadium lights at the football field.

An email to neighbors obtained by Walnut Creek Patch informs the residents just west of the school that a settlement has been reached over the lights that shine on the residents' homes.

No details are listed, but the email says the settlement involves conditions for lighted events at the stadium, revised size of the bleachers, noise restrictions, parking, traffic and a good neighbor policy on noise, litter and vandalism as well as other conditions.

It invites residents to attend informational meetings on Thursday and  May 4.

Representatives could be not reached for comment from the neighbors or the Northgate Pride Foundation, which raised money for the lights.

The stadium lights at the stadium were installed last fall so football games and other athletic events could be held during the evening.

Supporters said the lights meant Northgate High students could experience the excitement of night athletic contests on their campus.

Neighbors said the lights shined into their windows and the games brought traffic, litter and other problems to the neighborhood.
