Update: Burglars Victimize School Again

For the second time in four months, Apple computers are stolen from Indian Valley Elementary.

Update: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Information from WCPD

For the second time in half a school year, burglars have stolen computers from the children of Indian Valley Elementary on Marshall Drive.

Sometime after 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, someone pried the door to Classroom 6 open and stole six Apple, IMac computers, according to a Walnut Creek police report.

"I have strong suspicions that the same person(s) is responsible for both burglaries," wrote Walnut Creek Police Sgt. Jay Hill in an email. "The MO is similar and the items targeted are the same. Unfortunately, there are no leads at this time. The school does not have surveillance cameras, there are no witnesses and no evidence that could help identify anyone."

On Labor Day, six new Apple computers were stolen from Indian Valley Elementary School by burglars who apparently used a massive crowbar to break locks, school officials said. The burglars were selective, not taking other older computers and cameras. On the same night, there was a burglary at Valle Verde Elementary on Peachwillow Lane.

Patch has a call into school officials at Indian Valley Elementary School, seeking comment on security.

What a shame! It takes a special species of spineless crook to take from children! It sounds like surveillance cameras are long overdue here, especially since this campus is so remote.

The spineless crooks also tried to break their way into the Kindergarten classrooms on the same day, but the gates surrounding those rooms kept them out. One gate got screwed up, but they didn't make it into the classrooms. I'm an Indian Valley parent. That Friday the kids were all talking about how they felt about it. It's sad that they've been exposed to that twice this school year. I wish the school district would hurry up and DO something about the gaps in the security system, seeing as just putting paper over the exterior windows and closing the blinds apparently isn't working.
