Contract Approved For Northgate High Aquatics Center
The Mt. Diablo school board approves a preliminary service agreement that allows the developer to build the center under a "lease back" arrangement
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education has approved a preliminary service agreement for Northgate High School's new $7.5 million aquatics center.
The contract, approved unanimously on Wednesday night, allows the developer, Kenridge Builders, to construct the facility on a lease-leaseback arrangement.
Under the agreement, Kenridge would lease the facility for $1 while building the center, then lease it back to the district after it's completed.
Construction is expected to begin in mid-November with the center being completed next summer.
The center will contain a state-of-the-art 40-meter pool as well as outdoor lighting and a state-of-the-art sports medicine classroom.
More than $6.5 million of the funding will come from Measure C funds. The rest is being raised by the Northgate Community Pride Foundation.
