Spend a morning with flowers! Through lively lectures and floral-design demonstrations, Debra Prinzing, author of The 50 Mile Bouquet, and Robin Stockwell, owner of Succulent Gardens nursery, will show you the path to enjoying the full floral bounty the Bay Area has to offer, how to better benefit from your own homegrown cut-flowers, and how to think outside the box for your design materials.

The concept of organic, locally grown fruits and veggies has become mainstream, and Northern California has been leading the way. But what about cut flowers? As it turns out, the push to have popular flowers like roses, mums, and lilies available all year long leaves a big carbon footprint, and the end product can even be toxic. If the tomatoes, squash, and peas on your table are sustainably grown, why not your centerpiece? For a healthier, richer experience (and to support your hard-working local flower growers), find out how to take advantage of your region and the seasons. Debra will also share some handy - and green - bouquet-making tips. Robin will open your eyes to using unconventional elements like succulents.

I hate sand in parks. Nice breeding area for lice, and a great place for ferrel cats to poop. IRead More can't wait for them to do the park at Arbolado.

How about you research the current ADA guidelines regarding surface materials for play areas?Read More Walnut Creek is simply acting to be in compliance. Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous". A reasonable overview of the current regulations can be found here: http://risk.utah.gov/newsletter/documents/playground_surfacing.pdf If you disagree with the regulations, please contact your representatives.
