CONTRA COSTA TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION MEETING

Bay Area business consultant Gary Craft is the featured speaker at the Friday, June 25th breakfast meeting of the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association.  Craft will use his vast business and economic knowledge to offer fresh perspective on government problems and solutions in his talk on the topic "OPEB:  Symptom of a Larger Problem."  This program is open to the public with advance reservations available through Tuesday, September 21st using Association's website or by calling 925-228-5610. As principal and founder of the Lafayette-based Craft Consulting Group, Craft assists private and public sector clients in developing successful strategies to compete in the New Economy.  Craft has conducted surveys of emerging high-tech industry clusters and led the planning and development of several business incubators including the development of the highly successful Contra Costa Software Business Incubator. He was also responsible for launching the Contra Costa/Tri-Valley Telecommunication Incubator.  Craft has published economic analyses for Contra Costa County, including study of the County's growing liabilities for county employees' non-pension post-retirement benefits, also known as OPEB (other post-employment benefits).

Craft has completed feasibility studies and business plans for a variety of small business mixed use incubators and was the lead consultant for the Contra Costa Bioscience Incubator. He recently completed an article for the Contra Costa Bar Association's Magazine on East Bay incubators. He has extensive experience in planning, economic development, real estate, market analysis, and strategic planning.  Craft has conducted economic studies of local economies for the Oakland 2000 Technology Summit, Contra Costa Economic Partnership, the San Joaquin Valley Building Industry Association, and the City of Sunnyvale.

Craft is active in community affairs and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Contra Costa Council, of which he is past president, the John Marsh Historic Trust, and the Diablo Valley College Foundation.
