Mt. Diablo District On the Verge of Hiring New Superintendent

Dr. Nellie Meyer is now the deputy superintendent for San Diego School District.

The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Directors is expected on Wednesday to hire the deputy superintendent of the San Diego School District.

Dr. Nellie Meyer would receive $245,000 per year, according to the Contra Costa Times. 

Meyer would replace Steven Lawrence, who was fired in April amid charges of unresponsiveness and low employee morale. 

Board members traveled to San Diego to interview a series of parents, teachers, administration and other 'stakeholders' regarding Meyers. 

Meyers told the Times that she is looking forward to working with a diverse district that "is very close" to becoming a high-performing district.
