New Building Opens at Seven Hills School

Improved Hunt Hall kicks off 50th anniversary of private school.

It launches the private school's celebration of its 50th birthday, which was when Charles D. Hunt donated the money to buy the property.

The new building will help students "grow their curiosity," said Headmaster Bill Miller. "We think this education is deep and rewarding and everlasting."

Walnut Creek Mayor Bob Simmons congratulated parents for making "one of the best investments you can make." Also on hand for the ceremony were City Council member Kristina Lawson and Cindy Silva, and county Supervisor Karen Mitchoff.

The new Hunt Hall includes:
    •    a new classroom wing.
    •    an enlarged gymnasium.
    •    a 140-seat performing arts theater.
    •    a multimedia and language arts lab.
    •    a wellness center.
    •    a refurbished science classroom.

The gymnasium and performing arts theater will be available to community groups outside the school, said board of trustees President Kevin Katari.

The $7 million project started in 2010. Seven Hills School educates about 380 students on nine acres on North San Carlos Drive.
