An informational meeting at which parents can apply for a placement for a child in the PALS program for 2012-13 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Parkmead Elementary School Multi Purpose Room.
PALS is Parkmead Active Learning School, a K-5 school-within-a-school program. Families commit to volunteer 60 hours per academic year to support the program. Children are usually chosen for it by lottery.
The PALS philosophy includes providing "a flexible, non-competitive classroom environment in which children are encouraged to develop self-motivation, self-discipline, and self-evaluation skills."
