Two in the Running So Far for WCSD Board

Incumbent Pena and newcomer Bettis are running for Walnut Creek School District posts.

Thus far, a couple of weeks into the filing period, two candidates have taken out papers for two available seats in the Walnut Creek School District board race on Nov. 6.

Incumbent Catherine Pena and newcomer Liz Bettis, listed in county papers as a "community volunteer," have taken out papers, according to a document posted on the Contra Costa County Elections Division website. Incumbent Arthur Clarke had announced earlier in the year that he would retire.

The nomination period ends on Aug. 10, extended to Aug. 15 if an incumbent does not file, as Clarke has announced his intention.
