Walnut Creek Districts Land on Federal School 'Failure' List
Walnut Creek School District and Mount Diablo USD are cited for 'failing to make adequate progress.'
The latest report of school district scores has landed the Walnut Creek School District and Mount Diablo Unified School District on the federal list of districts failing to make adequate progress under the No Child Left Behind Act.
That puts the "failure" label on them, notes the Contra Costa Times in an article posted online Wednesday.
California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson praised the overall progress of California schools, and criticized the formulas that labeled some schools as "failing."

"At school after school, and among every significant ethnic group, California's students are performing better than ever," he said. "The failure here is in our politics, not our public schools."
