Walnut Creek Schools Included in Ranking of Nation's Best High Schools

See which Walnut Creek high school was in the top 100 for California.

Las Lomas and Northgate are among the best high schools in the country according to rankings released Tuesday. 

With a national ranking of 475 and a state ranking of 92, Los Lomas High School was one of 500 schools nationwide awarded a gold medal medal by U.S News and World Report in its 2013 list of the nation's best public high schools.  

Northgate High School earned a silver medal from the magazine with a national ranking of 1,120 and state ranking of 227.

The rankings were calculated by looking at student performance on standardized tests, evaluating how well schools educated black, Hispanic and poor students, and by how effectively they prepared graduates for college.
