Walnut Creeker Named Chef Director of Culinary School

Mark Davis gets responsibility for academic and professional standards of International Culinary School.

Mark Davis of Walnut Creek has been named the new chef director of the International Culinary School in San Francisco.

The news release from the Art Institute of California follows:

Chef Davis will oversee and manage the educational programs in Baking & Pastry, Culinary Arts and Culinary Management. He is responsible for maintaining academic and professional standards, student involvement and new program development.

“It is my pleasure to join The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – San Francisco,” said Davis. “I believe that I will be able to affect positive changes in the quality and preparedness of our graduates.”

Davis comes to The Art Institutes from the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School of Career Education Corporation. He brings more than 35 years experience in the culinary field with expertise as garde manger chef for the Ritz-Carlton in both Naples, Fla. and Marina del Rey, Calif., and executive chef experience for the California Culinary Academy (CCA). He has devoted the last 20 years to education at the CCA in San Francisco (1991-2011)and at Laney College in Oakland, Calif.(2009-2011).

Davis is an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef with a degree in Business Administration Management. He is also an internationally recognized championship ice sculptor who competed in the Olympic Ice Competition for the United States in Nagano, Japan in 1998, and in art and cultural events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
