Why Are No Walnut Creek Folks Running for MDUSD School Board?

Seven candidates filing for three seats on the Mount Diablo School Board; none are from Walnut Creek. What's up with that?

There are three seats open for the board of trustees of the Mount Diablo Unified School District. Seven candidates have filed to run for the November election.

None are from Walnut Creek. The trustees who are not up for re-election this November, Gary Eberhart and Sherry Whitmarsh, both live in Concord. Incumbents Paul Strange and Dick Allen have opted out of running.

So, whoever wins in November, there will be no one on the board of this district who represents the interests of the some 3,500 students who attend the district's Walnut Creek schools.
