De La Salle Plays For NCS Baseball Title

The top seeded Spartans will battle the 10th seeded Grizzlies, who pulled off another upset

Top seeded De La Salle High of Concord will take on giant killing California High for the NCS Division I baseball championship on Saturday evening.

The Spartans (19-7) advanced to the final round by defeating fifth seeded Granada High of Livermore, 9-3, on Wednesday afternoon.

The 10th seeded Grizzlies (15-12) pulled off another upset in their semifinal game on Wednesday. They defeated third seeded Monte Vista High, 5-2.

In the quarterfinals, Cal High edged second seeded Deer Valley High, 8-7.

De La Salle defeated Cal High twice during the regular season.

The championship game starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the O. Co. Coliseum in Oakland.
