Event Overview

Major League BBQ, Baseball & Celebrities team up for foster youth for the 2nd Bay Area BBQ Championship (www.bayareabbq.org) on Saturday, July 7 at the Oakland Coliseum.

All proceeds from the event benefit the thousands of Northern California foster children, youth and families served by Alternative Family Services (www.afs4kids.org).

The Bay Area BBQ Championship is an A's "special event" day. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here.

The Bay Area BBQ Championship (BABC) is California's premier barbecue destination.

 

Guests will enjoy:

  • Live entertainment: music, entertainers and live BBQ Throwdown
  • Live food demos: Guest appearance by Dr. BBQ - celebrity personality and author of NFL BBQ Cookbook
  • A's vs Mariners game
  • Family Boardwalk: all day baseball clinics, carnival attractions, Home Depot building clinic, urban gardening, sponsor attractions

Who are the teams?

Pro Cook-off

The Kansas City BBQ Society sanctions the Pro Cook-off where some of the nation's top BBQ teams compete for the title of Grand Champion. Anyone who feels they have a team that can compete in chicken, ribs, brisket and pork may PRO Teams apply here.

 

AAA Minor League Cook-off

This year the AAA Minor League cook-off will allow backyard BBQ enthusiasts, chefs and teams to compete for cash in three new categories: tri-tip, vegetarian dishes, and Captain's Choice (a beef, chicken or pork dish). Any individual or team may apply for the AAA Minor League cook-off here

 

Community Partner / Corporate Sponsor Teams for People's Choice

The Oakland Fire Department, Allied Storage Container and East Bay Restaurant Supply are examples of community partner/corporate sponsor teams that show their support for foster youth by putting a team together to serve BBQ related samples to guests who then "VOTE" for their favorite team. These teams can serve as few or as many BBQ related items such as: sides, meats or desserts. Community Partner/Sponsor Teams apply here

I hate sand in parks. Nice breeding area for lice, and a great place for ferrel cats to poop. IRead More can't wait for them to do the park at Arbolado.

Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous".
