High School Water Polo: Las Lomas Boys, Girls And Northgate Boys Win

Northgate girls are the only Walnut Creek team not to advance to the NCS semifinals

Three of the four Walnut Creek teams in action advanced Saturday to the third round of the North Coast Section high school water polo playoffs.

In the boys Division I competitionLas Lomas High defeated fifth-seeded Sir Frances Drake High, 14-5.

The fourth-seeded Knights now must play against top-ranked Miramonte High in the semifinals at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Matadors' home pool in Orinda.

Las Lomas is 16-9 this season while Miramonte is 17-8.

In the boys Division II competition, fifth-seeded Northgate High edged fourth-seeded Tamalpais High, 8-7.

The Broncos must now face top-ranked Alhambra High in their semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Acalanes High pool.

Northgate is 15-12 on the season while Alhambra is 19-6.

In the girls Division I tournamentLas Lomas High defeated sixth-seeded Alhambra High, 8-5.

The third-seeded Knights now play second-seeded Monte Vista High in the semifinals at 4:45 p.m. at the Acalanes High pool.

Las Lomas is 18-8 this season while Monte Vista is 15-9.

In the girls Division II competition, sixth-seeded Northgate High lost to third-ranked Sir Frances Drake High, 11-5.

The Broncos finish the season with a 14-14 record.
