Hundreds Run In Walnut Creek Half Marathon

Racers trotted along some of the city's busier roads during the 13.1-mile race Saturday morning

It wasn't just cars on Ygnacio Valley Road on Saturday morning.

Hundreds of runners competed in the 13.1-mile Walnut Creek International Half Marathon .

The race began at 7 a.m. in Civic Park. There was also a 5K race.

The half marathoners ran along Civic Drive, Treat Boulevard, Cowell Road and Ygnacio Valley Road, among other streets.

One lane of the race route was closed off for the racers. Drivers entering the main roads were allowed to turn left and right but weren't permitted to go straight across.

The closures were expected to last until about noon.
