Las Lomas Football Kicks Off Season Tonight

Las Lomas returns to its place under the lights with their first game against Vintage-Napa.

Las Lomas head football coach Doug Longero has seen this before, a team full of talent that’s excited to be a contender. Perhaps it’s his 13 years of coaching experience. Perhaps it’s the past success of his program. And maybe it’s the hard work the Las Lomas Knights put in this summer that will propel them into a NCS playoff berth.

Las Lomas returns an impressive amount of talent this year on both sides of the ball. Look for OL/DL Mitch Frentescu and OL/DL Derrick Stom to make some big pushes up front. This, in turn, will help junior quarterback Jackson Miller make passes because he'll have protection in the pocket.

Last season, Las Lomas went 5-6 and ended its season on a rainy night in Fremont in the first round of the NCS playoffs.

However, the Knights will benefit from a great coaching staff and a solid cadre of junior starters who were on the varsity roster last season.

Look for WR Adam Wood and RB Jake Villa to be major pieces of the offense.

Bay Area News Group predicts that Las Lomas will win league this year, and SportStars Magazine predicts that Las Lomas will advance to the NCS DII title game this year.

The Knights will be looking for fan support tonight at George DeKlotz Field. They'll be playing Vintage-Napa at 7 p.m. Last year, Las Lomas  early in the season. Adult tickets are $7 and students and seniors are $4.

Las Lomas coach Doug Longero and the Knights enjoy the home cooking.

“It’s constantly been a community atmosphere at Las Lomas games,” said Longero.
