Pictures from the Walnut Festival Run 2010

Were you there? Congratulations! Yours truly couldn't quite get herself out of bed! Next year, she'll get her lazy you-know-what out of the sack. As she should! This year's race benefitted a good cause: schools in Walnut Creek

Jason Cooke, a Walnut Creek Patch reader and the organizer of the Walnut Festival Run on Sunday, shared some cool photos, courtesy of his Facebook page.

The race is part of a very special tradition, which kicks off our town's annual Walnut Festival.

The Walnut Festival run itself started in the 1950s and was back this year, on Sunday morning, with two courses: a 10K Race and a 5K run/walk, both following the flat and fast streets of downtown Walnut Creek.

The Walnut Festival continues this weekend with the Walnut Festival Twilight Parade Saturday night.  The following weekend, the festival moves into high fear at Heather Farm Park, with rides, games, food and fundraising opportunities for local organizations. For more information, visit the Walnut Festival Association's website.

Meanwhile, the Walnut Festival Run and all its participants supported public and private schools of Walnut Creek.
