The race is part of a very special tradition, which kicks off our town's annual Walnut Festival.
The Walnut Festival run itself started in the 1950s and was back this year, on Sunday morning, with two courses: a 10K Race and a 5K run/walk, both following the flat and fast streets of downtown Walnut Creek.

The Walnut Festival continues this weekend with the Walnut Festival Twilight Parade Saturday night. The following weekend, the festival moves into high fear at Heather Farm Park, with rides, games, food and fundraising opportunities for local organizations.
