Walnut Creek Olympian Trains in Dublin

Mariya Koroleva is scheduled for a flight to London Thursday, due to compete Sunday in synchronized swimming.

Pool time is a little hard to come by in London these days.

That's why Walnut Creek and Concord's contribution to the USA synchronized swimming duet team — Mariya Koroleva — is training in Dublin, Ireland, for her debut at the London Olympics Sunday. She is there with her duet partner, Mary Killman, according to Koroleva's blog entry for "Olympic Games Day 8."

"Unfortunately we didn't get to see anything in Dublin other than the hotel and the pool," writes Koroleva. "All of our time was spent either practicing or resting. Maybe one day I can come back and explore the city! The weather has been cloudy and rainy, but I actually really like it. And the sky is gorgeous here. I am building quite a collection of sky and sunset pictures on my iPhone so I got to add some from Dublin."

On Thursday, the synchronized swimmers have an early flight to London.

Also Wednesday, Koroleva gave a Tweet shootout to "my fellow Walnut Creeker, Stanford classmate, "S" partner in crime and friend @kristianipsen just won an Olympic bronze medal!"

A month ago, Koroleva grew up with the Walnut Creek Aquanuts as she developed her swimming skills.

How about you research the current ADA guidelines regarding surface materials for play areas?Read More Walnut Creek is simply acting to be in compliance. Not sure where you get the idea that wood chips are "much more dangerous". A reasonable overview of the current regulations can be found here: http://risk.utah.gov/newsletter/documents/playground_surfacing.pdf If you disagree with the regulations, please contact your representatives.
