High School Football, Wine & Whiskers, Community Service Day And Other Things To Do This Weekend

Here's some of the things going on in Walnut Creek as you prepare for your weekend

Friday, Sept. 27

In high school football, 
Northgate's undefeated team will travel to East Contra Costa County to take on Antioch High School.

The Broncos are 4-0 while Antioch High is 1-3.

On the other side of town, 
the Las Lomas football squad will travel to Martinez to battle Alhambra High School.

The Knights are 2-2 while Alhambra High is 1-2-1.

In downtown Walnut Creek, Shrek The Musical will finish its run at the Lesher Center for the Arts.

The play will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday as well as 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday. Sept. 28

The city will host a Community Service Day with more than 60 volunteer projects to choose from.

Volunteers will check in at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Heather Farm Park. Project work begins at 9 a.m.

A fashion show 
benefiting Meals on Wheels will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Atria Valley View, 1228 Rossmoor Parkway.

The 10th annual Wine & Whiskers fundraiser 
will be held at 5 p.m. at Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation, 2890 Mitchell Drive. The event will celebrate the shelter's success.
