The Weekender: Movie Meeting, Train Show, Museum Sale

Some of the events happening this weekend in the Walnut Creek area

As you plan your weekend, here are some of the events in the Walnut Creek area that are happening from Friday evening to Sunday evening.

On Friday evening,
 a new group will hold an informational meeting on reviving the showing of artistic films in the area.

The Mountain Shadow Film Society gathering begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Oak View room of the downtown Walnut Creek Library.

The group formed in response to the demolition in May of the CineArts theater in Pleasant Hill.

On Saturday morning, a model train exhibit will be debut.

The Open House and Holiday Train Show is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society building, 2751 Buena Vista Ave.

On Sunday morning, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum will hold a holiday sale.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Sunday and Monday at the museum store, 1931 First Ave.

Books, toys, jewelry and educational gifts with a wildlife theme are available.

On Sunday afternoon, benefit concert for the homeless will be held.

The performance by guitarist and singer Jim Scott begins at 3 p.m. at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church, 55 Eckley Lane.
