<p>Walnut Creek Intermediate, home of the Squires, opened in 1956 to serve middle school students in the Walnut Creek School District.</p>
<p>Students from the district's five elementary schools feed into WCI, giving the school a large and somewhat diverse population. The school's sixth and eighth grade students are organized around core English and social studies classes.</p> <p>Students also have the option to take electives, including drama, computer, weight training, Spanish, French, yearbook, cartooning and leadership. The principal is Kevin Collins.
