Will the move from Oakland to San Francisco affect your fandom for the Golden State Warriors?
The Warriors are moving their basketball franchise to another part of the Golden State — just across the bay. They had a press conference Tuesday at Piers 30-32 in the shadow of the Bay Bridge, the site where the Warriors would like to have an arena by 2017. At that press conference were NBA Commissioner, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Warrior owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber. Seemed like the proper occasion for a Patch poll.

Oakland loses a team and San Francisco gains a team. Will that change your allegiance to the team?
The Golden State Warriors are leaving Oakland and heading to San Francisco. The team is expected to announce the details Tuesday morning, the Contra Costa Times has reported. The NBA franchise isn't expected to move, however, until 2017, when the team would be able to get out of its current lease. Contra Costa Times, May 21: The Warriors' willingness to leave is "a slap in the face," said Chris Dobbins, founder of Save Oakland Sports and a member of the Coliseum Authority, which oversees the municipally-owned complex that includes Oracle Arena. "We're very upset," Dobbins said. Monte Vista High School alum Bob Myers was recently named general manager of the team. Are you upset? How often do you go to Warriors' games now? Does the team …

The Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation posted this announcement on its website: Unfortunately, Children's Hospital Oakland is no longer producing Devil Mountain Run. While we are incredibly grateful to the Danville community (and the wonderfully dedicated participants like you) for its enthusiastic support through the Devil Mountain Run over the years, the run is simply no longer producing good fundraising results. Given the financial ramifications, Children's Hospital Oakland has come to the difficult decision to discontinue the race. Walnut Creek planning for several months of construction at Boundary Oak in 2013.
The city of Walnut Creek is making plans for an overhaul of the clubhouse of Boundary Oak Golf Course. The city is hoping to do the construction in 2013, City Manager Ken Nordhoff said at a City Council budget planning retreat Friday at the golf course. The city anticipates an interruption of the restaurant and banquet business at the clubhouse for no more than six months, said Barry Gordon, director of arts, recreation and community service. City Council members expressed general support for the renovations, estimated at $1.0 to $1.8 million in staff documents. The clubhouse opened in 1969. "I'm for the most improvements we can afford," said Council member Gary Skrel, who qualified his remarks by noting that he was an avid golfer. "The …

Heated discussion focuses on penciling in a specific amount as Walnut Creek awaits report on ballfield priorities.
A City Council discussion of 2012-14 budget priorities grew heated for a minute Tuesday night in an exchange of opinions on funding for an all-weather field at Heather Farm Park. "We're just delaying a decision," said Mayor Pro Tem Kish Rajan. "We make decisions in the budget process. I'm baffled as to what we're waiting for." Rajan was responding to a suggestion by Council member Cindy Silva. With the results of a consultant's analysis of the city's ballfields expected in six to eight weeks, Silva suggested the city hold off designating an amount for an all-weather field — and instead budget a dollar figure for recreation capital projects and specify the projects at a later date. The field, tentatively planned for Field 5 and/or Field 6, …

Event organizers estimated about 3,500 people attended and more than $8,000 was raised for families affected by Osteosarcoma.
There was a soccer game Saturday afternoon at Dougherty Valley High in San Ramon. Stanford and Cal's women's soccer teams competed hard. The Cardinal nicked a goal and thousands of fans were entertained. But what made the warm spring day in San Ramon special was the community and its support for three kids who are facing a difficult opponent — cancer. The exhibition soccer game was the highlight of an all-day event at Dougherty Valley to raise money for kids with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. The event was organized by friends of the Bochenek family, whose 10-year-old daughter Brianne (who goes by "Breezy") was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last fall. Since, she has gone through chemotherapy cycles and had her left leg amputated in …
