Website Celebrates Video Game Pioneer Wright

Will Wright's vision for SimCity games grew while company was in Walnut Creek.

Video game pioneer Will Wright, with his Walnut Creek roots, has received a fresh shout-out from across the pond.

Wright used to drive around Walnut Creek two decades ago while he was envisioning a video game based on urban planning. The company he helped to found, Maxis — based in Orinda and Walnut Creek —developed the SimCity series of games.

A recent post by the Gamers Hub of England
put Wright in the pantheon of "gaming gods" for creating "one of the most well known and most popular games franchises of all time, despite struggling to find support from the company he started."
