PG&E Hopes to Restore Power to Walnut Creek Customers By This Evening

Summertime, and unfortunately it's time for power outages.

PG&E is looking for the cause of a power outage shortly before 1 p.m. Monday that initially left 2,265 customers without power in and around downtown Walnut Creek.

PG&E has managed to restore power to all but 380 customers in the area of North California Boulevard and Lacassie Avenue. Those customers are expected to get their power back by around 6:30 p.m., said PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers

Equipment failure caused another 700 customers to lose power at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The final 11 of those customers had their power restored by Monday morning. The Contra Costa Times says that this power failure caused the loss of cable TV, phone and Internet services for some Astound Broadband customers that is still ongoing.

Ehlers says rising temperatures can cause some problems for PG&E equipment. "We do make sure we're prepared for the weather," she said.
