Piedmont Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution's Annual Antique Affair

PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE

The Piedment Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to present renowned Oriental rug expert, Emmet Eiland of Emmett Eiland's Oriental Rug Company of Berkeley, founded in 1969. Through his buying and research trips throughout the Middle-East across the years, Eiland has learned about the regional characteristics of rugs, techniques for repair and restoration, and has become well versed in the history and production methods used historically and in the present. Eiland has written extensively on the subject, produced a film about rug weaving, held seminars at UC Extension on the subject, and published a book called “Oriental Rugs Today,” He states that modern weavers have rediscovered the ancient techniques of weaving and dyeing that seemed lost forever. Rather than there being a sad decline in Oreiental rug weaving, the art has never been stronger. His presentation topic will be A Renaissance in the Art of Weaving Oriental Rugs. For those of you who have Oriental rugs in your home, or are thinking of buying one, this is a must hear presentation. The event will take place on Friday, November 15, at the Piedmont Community Center, 711 Highland Avenue, Piedmont. Coffee and pastries will be served at 9:00a.m., with seatting at 9:45a.m. Please remit a check, Piedmont Chapter, DAR for $25:00 by November 13, to Elaine Oldham, 565 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610.
