A list of some of the people with ties to Walnut Creek who passed away recently

Curtis W. Tarr: A resident of Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, Tarr was the director of the Selective Service, overseeing the country's military draft from 1970 to 1972. He held two other presidential appointments and also worked in private industry. He received degrees from Stanford and Harvard. He also ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1958. Tarr passed away on June 21 at the age of 88.

Merrybeth Lenore-Clement: A resident of Walnut Creek, Lenore-Clement was an active member of the community. She volunteered at her church as well as Rancho San Miguel Swim Club. She passed away on June 28 at the age of 62.

Morrell Moss: A resident of Walnut Creek for the past decade, Moss was a World War II veteran and a graduate of the University of Denver. He passed away on June 25 at the age of 87.

Scott Smith: A resident of Walnut Creek, Smith worked in the telecommunications industry. He loved music, fishing and bicycle riding. Smith passed away on June 24 at the age of 48.

Marian Williams: A resident of Walnut Creek, Williams attended Mt. Diablo and Ygnacio Valley High schools. She worked as a model before becoming a homemaker and raising a family. Williams passed away on June 25 at the age of 68.
