Walnut Creek Death Notices

William Donald Curbo, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Texas. He earned a degree in business administration from the University of Texas and worked for 38 years for Chevron Corp., retiring in 1990 as general manager of financing and general accounting. Curbo died on Jan. 4 at the age of 81.

Stanley G. Hill, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Oklahoma. He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in World War II. After the war, he earned a degree in business administration from the University of Nevada. He worked as a sales representative for the National Cash Register Company. He later sold real estate. Hill was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and at one time was one of the top shooters in the country. Hill died on Jan. 1 at the age of 92.

Rowena Huddleston, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Rochester, New York. She lived at The Kensington for the past six years. Huddleston died on Jan. 3 at the age of 94.

John Joseph Kellejian, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Fresno. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war, he worked for 25 years for the San Francisco Police Department. He was a past commander of VFW Post 75 in Danville as well as a Contra Costa County grand juror and a volunteer at the Veterans Administration hospital in Martinez. Kellejian died on Jan. 6 at the age of 91.

Jeanette Alison Mayer, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in England. She moved to the United States in the late 1950s and obtained a nursing degree. She moved with her husband to the Bay Area in the early 1960s. Mayer died on Dec. 20 at the age of 76.

Duane Reno, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master's degree from Stanford University. He worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin before obtaining a law degree from Hastings College. In 1982, he became a founding partner of Davis and Reno Attorneys at Law in San Francisco. Reno died on Jan. 5 at the age of 71.

Lynn Schloss, a resident of Walnut Creek, was a U.C. Berkeley graduate as well as an Eagle Scout. Schloss worked for 36 years as an operations manager for Montgomery Wards and then worked as a travel agent. Schloss died on Jan. 2 at the age of 90.

Eva Marion Shellenberg, a resident of Walnut Creek, was born in the Owens Valley and grew up in Los Angeles. After World War II, she moved with her husband to Oakland and then Lafayette. She was an active volunteer in schools and churches. Late in life, she moved to Walnut Creek. Shellenberg died on Jan. 4 at the age of 93.
