Creek Diva: Barking Dogs, Bashed Bank, Stolen Sips, Strong-Arm Robbery

Walnut Creek police reports from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21, 2011

Wednesday, October 19

Caught on camera. A wallet was stolen in Oakland two days ago, and a $495 gift card to Nordstrom was used at 10:35 a.m. Smile, the suspect was captured on a security video.

Disturbing. A woman reported that a group of females was attacking her friend inside Redux nightclub on Locust Street, and she was subsequently “struck in the head numerous times.” An investigation is under way.

Tiddly cyclist. A man was stopped on his bicycle at 3:22 p.m on Cole Avenue and was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and two outstanding warrants. In case you were wondering, yes, you can get a “DUI” on a bicycle.

Thursday, October 20

Chilling. A Creek Diva request to pet owners: as the seasons change, it’s getting chilly out! Please make sure your pets are properly taken care of. Many calls are coming in about barking dogs late at night. Thanks!

Not the right stuff. Tsk, tsk, Pyramid Brewery! An employee allegedly cleaned out some garbage cans with Comet cleaner that was “coming out of a pipe into the street” at 11:08 a.m. The employees agreed to clean up the area. That shouldn’t go down a storm drain, folks!

Bikes gone. A silver Schwinn hybrid bicycle that was locked to a stairwell was stolen from Player Court overnight. Another bicycle theft occurred at Las Lomas, where  blue and white Trek was stolen from the bike racks. The school has a video of the suspect.

Friday, October 21

Un-Occupied? An unknown subject used a marker to write “FORECLOSED” on a bank window and ATM at a bank on the 2200 block of Oak Grove Road.

Lost. Readers, a pair of hearing aids went missing at the Mercedes Dealership recently. Please keep your eyes open. Thanks!

Vintage crime. $10,000 worth of wine was stolen from a storage unit from a home on Huston Road in the past two weeks.

Broken record. Another report of a catalytic converter theft occurred on the 400 block of N. Civic Drive. A bag of clothes was also stolen from the truck.

Robbery. A strong-arm robbery occurred near Casper’s on Newell Avenue at 10 p.m. by two 16-year-old boys, who threatened to punch the victims and take everything from their pockets.
