Creek Diva: Big Cat Prowler & Baby Formula Thief

Walnut Creek police reports from June 6 to June 9.

Wednesday, June 6

Big cat! A caller reporting seeing a possible mountain lion or cougar in his backyard on the 1400 block of Whitecliff Way at 6:39 a.m.

Ransacked. A resident on the 1500 block of Piedra Drive noticed the front door wide open and that the home had been ransacked between the hours of 9:45 a.m and 2:30 p.m. Televisions and video games were reported stolen.

Fruit for sale. A man selling strawberries and cherries on Rudgear and Palmer Road was asked to leave the area at 4:17 p.m.

Fraud. A man reported $6,000 in fraudulent charges on a business account on the 3000 block of Citrus Avenue. Wells Fargo is investigating the transactions that took place in Sacramento.

Readers, please do not leave valuables in your car. Ever! A car was broken into on the 1400 block of North Main Street between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. A Swiss Army backpack containing Nike running shoes, $700 cash and a paycheck were reported stolen.

Thursday, June 7

Parking. Six cars were towed for various vehicle code infractions on Jones and Parkside Drive this morning. Careful where you park folks!

Flipped. A car flipped on the 1000 block of Castle Rock Road at 11:53a.m. Luckily the driver was OK after the time of the accident.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas … including a lost wallet, unfortunately. A man reported that he misplaced his wallet on a recent trip to the city of lost wages.

Friday, June 8

Take a cab. Three DUI arrests in under an hour downtown occurred before 2a.m. Word to the wise — take a cab, have a designated driver or suffer the consequences.

Summer time trouble. Several juveniles were cited on narcotic charges after someone phoned police hearing them screaming in a stairwell on the 1600 block of Olympic Blvd this afternoon.

Oops. A backpack was turned into police after someone found it on the 3600 block of Arbolado Drive. The backpack also allegedly had pot and an identification card in it.

Saturday, June 9

Attack. A woman walking home shortly after midnight in the area of the Iron Horse Trail in Civic Park was attacked by a man. She fought back and the man ran off and was apprehended later by police, the WCPD reported.

It’s raining… concrete chunks? A concerned caller phoned police after several softball-sized chunks of concrete fell from a possible crack on the BART track on Oakdale and Trinity Avenue. The WCPD advised the BART police to check the structure.

Aggressive. Two subjects were soliciting funds for their “basketball team” on the 1800 block of North Main Street the past few days. Police asked them to leave after a caller thought their soliciting practices were aggressive and threatening.

Like stealing formula from a baby. $300 worth of baby formula was stolen from a business on the 2900 block of Ygnacio Valley Road this afternoon. A suspect from Antioch was identified and an investigation is underway.
