Crime & Safety

Creek Diva: Whoopee, Fisticuffs & Tow Trucks

Walnut Creek police reports from Dec. 3 to Dec. 6.

Saturday, December 3

Same old song and dance goes like this … A man was under citizen’s arrest for assault on the 1500 block of Civic Drive at 1:47 a.m.  A DUI occurred on the 2600 block of Oak Road at 2:27 a.m. And two females were arrested — one for public intoxication, the other for an outstanding warrant at 2:51 a.m. on the 2700 block of North Main Street.

Rockin'. If this is a car is a-rockin’ the WCPD are going to come a-knockin'. A gray Range Rover was parked on the 1500 block of Sunnyvale Avenue and had two occupants who were partaking in adult gymnastics at 5:36 a.m. A man was arrested for having two outside warrants.

On a more serious note. A woman phoned police because she was not receiving her Meals on Wheels delivery. Police resolved the situation. Readers, if you have elderly neighbors who are on their own this cold holiday season, stop by and check in on them.

'Tis the shoplifting season. Citizens and the WCPD together stopped two groups shoplifting in Nordstrom and H&M.

Sunday, December 4

Drunk, disorderly. Two women were refusing to leave Vice Ultra Lounge on Arroyo Way and got into an altercation and were arrested for public intoxication at 1:15 a.m.

Five tows. A record five cars were towed on Locust Street and Cole Avenue to make room for the rain-or-shine farmers market.

Another tow. A man had his car towed after being pulled over and cited for various violations, including having false tabs and expired registration over four years.

Monday, December 5

Burglary. A smash ‘n’ grab occurred on the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. A briefcase, IPod, external hard drive, checkbook and personal documents were reported stolen.

Attic burglar. A business on the 1200 block of South California Boulevard was burglarized overnight. The unknown suspect gained entry to the building though the attic. Safes were pried open and an unknown amount of cash was stolen.

On the naughty list. A Las Lomas High School student was suspended for having marijuana. The pot was picked up for destruction at 2:21 p.m.

Jewelry heists. Two residential burglaries were reported, one on 100 block of Las Juntas Way where a rear slider was smashed and jewelry stolen. A home on the 2000 block of Belford Drive was broken into and, again, jewelry was taken.

Wallet reunited. Nice job, kind citizen who flagged down a WCPD officer near Broadway Plaza after finding a wallet. Happy to report the wallet and all of its contents were picked up by its rightful owner.

Tuesday, December 6

Multiple vehicles. An 18 year-old San Jose resident, Jennifer Amaya, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence after her SUV crashed into the city of Walnut Creek corporation yard on Lawrence Way.

Stolen Accord. A 1997 beige Honda Accord, license plate 6KIV056, was stolen from a parking spot on the 2500 block of Walnut Blvd.

Moving violation. Moving is always stressful, but having your car broken into when it is packed full of personal belongings would be a nightmare. That is what happened to a resident on the 1200 block of Walker Avenue. A black Toyota Camry was broken into overnight; a bicycle, electronics, clothing and personal items were stolen.

Never leave valuables in your car.
